I study how information environments impact stakeholder claims and, in turn, shape how firms adapt to competitive shocks.
Across my work, I show that information intermediaries, such as local media, link market pressures with stakeholder accountability and condition the exercise of firms’ adaptation capabilities.
In my job-market paper, I specifically examine how local media scrutiny affects firms’ workforce reconfiguration and technology adoption in response to industry downturns. In the second chapter of my dissertation, I study how information environments moderate firms’ vertical integration responses to tariff impositions during the first Trump administration.
